Romanian Senate President Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu met US Vice President Mike Pence in Washington on Tuesday, also US National Security Advisor Keith Kellogg.
Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu invited Mike Pence to visit Romania in order to get an insight on realities and importance of current topics that have been discussed, reads a press release from Romanian Senate.
Romanian dignitary emphasized the important role that Romania has in adapting and implementing deterrence measures on NATO’s eastern flank.
He advocated for increased economic and strategic participation of the United States on Romania's territory, both through important economic projects and by establishing a permanent military presence in the area.
Regional impact issues such as Russian aggression in the Black Sea, consequences of Brexit and new valences acquired by Strategic Partnership Romania - United States in the new post-Brexit context have also been reviewed, press release states.
