Romania will continue to support the European project and will pursue completion of its integration, Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă said on Tuesday in Strasbourg in the plenary of the European Parliament, while presenting results of Romania’s EU Council Presidency (January-June 2019).
As Head of Romanian Government has pointed out, Romania has managed to prove that the European institutions do work for the citizens and do provide prospects for the future.
RRA Special Envoy to Strasbourg, Petruţa Obrejan: "Europe must not be multi-speed, Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă told MEPs, and there should be no faults among EU Member States, as progress will be solid and with concrete benefits for the citizens only when they are made together, cohesion being one of the strongest binders of the European project.
Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă: "We have assumed that we will act to strengthen the European project and, during the six months of our mandate, we have demonstrated that pro-Europeanism needs to be fed through constant action.
Our project does not have to promote a multi-speed Europe or one with concentric circles.Romania will continue to promote the common goal of strengthening the European project and will at the same time pursue its integration.
I am referring to the full integration of Romania into the Schengen Area, where we already act as a de facto member".
Leaders of European Parliament political groups congratulated the way Romania’s EU Council Presidency succeeded in closing its six-month mandate, with all the existing challenges and complicated legislative files. European Commission Vice President Maros Sefčovič also said that efforts of the Romanian team were visible in terms of contribution for the future of the European construction".
