Romanian Minister of Education, Ecaterina Andronescu, has been dismissed on Friday by Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă because of the statements minister has made in the Caracal kidnapping case, which the Prime Minister considers as deeply wrong.
Interim Minister of Education will be current Minister of Culture, Daniel Breaz. Announcement was made by Prime Minister on Facebook, following comments made by Ecaterina Andronescu during a TV show that children should be taught how to stay away from dangers and that she "was taught at home not to get in car with a stranger".
Statement was made in the context in which Alexandra, a 15-year-old girl who disappeared ten days ago in Caracal, got into a car driven by the alleged killer. Ecaterina Andronescu said that she heard the news about her dismissal on TV.
Andronescu tried to explain that her intention was not to accuse Alexandra or her parents for the fact that she easily got into a car of a stranger, but to teach young people to learn how to stay away from dangers.
