Romanian Language Day, 31 August, has been celebrated on Friday all over the country, through debates, poetry recitals, exhibitions, films and concerts.
Romania's diplomatic missions and consulates have organized these days various manifestations for the anniversary of the Romanian Language Day, which has become a tradition of the activity related to public and cultural diplomacy, Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) mentions.
The day of 31 August was established the Romanian Language Day through Law 53 of 19 March 2013. According to the law, this day is marked by authorities and public institutions, including diplomatic missions and consulates and Romanian cultural institutions abroad, by organizing evocative or scientific cultural-educational programs and manifestations.
"Celebration dedicated to this fundamental element of the Romanian people acquires a special symbolic value in the Greater Union Centennial year, while at the same time, encourages to finding new ways of fostering and enriching our linguistic heritage among the young generations and Romanian language fans around the world", reads a MAE press release.
