Romanian Government has given a negative opinion on the draft law on the Royal House legal status, initiated by Senate President Călin Popescu Tăriceanu and Chamber of Deputies Speaker Liviu Dragnea.
Draft law provides that the Royal House has legal personality and funding from the state budget for the fulfillment of its public obligations, and the Elisabeth Palace can be used as the Royal House's premises, free of charge.
Last month, Prime Minister Mihai Tudose declared that Elisabeth Palace had been given to King Michael as former head of state, not to his descendants.
Prime Minister also pointed out that members of the Royal House can rent Elisabeth Palace if they so wish, according to RRA Reporter Andrei Şerban.
