Romanian Government approves budget correction with 4.4% deficit

New Romanian Liberal Government approved on Thursday a draft budget correction, increasing the budget deficit for this year to 4.4% of the Gross Domestic Product, compared to 4.3, as provided in the initial document for public debate. Finance Minister Florin Cîţu explained that over the last two days, expenditures were discovered for which the previous government had not provided funds.
RRA Reporter Andrei Șerban: Finance Minister Florin Cîţu announced that payment of social assistance rights - pensions, state allowances for children, allowances for people with disabilities and other such payments - was supplemented by two billion lei by the end of the year. Florin Cîţu also said that extra money was allocated for the increased payment of salaries in public health units and for medicines. RON 460 M were paid to the Education ministry to cover the pay gaps.
Minister Cîţu emphasized that this rectification puts an end to what the PSD practice to delay and roll payment of expenses from year to year.
