Romanian Foreign Minister meets NATO Secretary General

Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu is scheduled to meet NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the Alliance's headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday.

Recently, Mark Rutte warned that in 4-5 years, the allies will not be able to protect themselves collectively if they do not increase their defense spending above the current target of 2% of Gross Domestic Product.

For his part, US President Donald Trump, whose country covers the bulk of NATO's budget, has called on allies to raise defense spending to 5% of gross domestic product.
