Pilots of Romanian Air Force F-16 WarHawks 53rd Squadron executed, on 12-13 March, aerial refueling missions of the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
Operations were carried out with a KC-135 Stratotanker owned by the 100th Air Refueling Wing of the United States Air Force in Europe (USAF), specially designed for fighter jet aerial refueling at an altitude of 7,000 to 10,000 meters.
F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft flight autonomy is about three hours, and after refueling - a process that takes a few minutes - flight time increases by two hours.
Romanian F-16 pilots were qualified to carry out such aerial refueling procedures during conversion to the type (F-16 Fighting Falcon Course), which took place in Portugal.
