The most beautiful chords of Romanian classical music resounded in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, near Paris, performed by the Bucharest National Opera Orchestra and Choir. The performance - Romanian Ethos - financed by the Romanian Government through the Department for Romanians Abroad, in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Romanian Embassy, was intended as a new cultural bridge between Romania and France on the occasion of the Paris Olympic Games.
RRA correspondent, Daniela Coman, with reactions to the evening of Romanian music: "Promoting Romanian culture abroad and strengthening ties between Romania and France through a sublime repertoire, which opened with the choir from Ciprian Porumbescu's Operetta "Crai Nou" and ended with Enescu's Romanian Rhapsody. The conductor of the National Opera Orchestra, Maestro Daniel Jinga, on the significance of the chosen repertoire.
Daniel Jinga: "Romanian soul, Romanian tradition, Romanian melodic essence and so on, all dressed up in the most beautiful symphonism which, of course, was imported from France, among other countries. In other words, this music has somehow returned home, distilled, refined, dressed in a classical music cloak."
The audience was absolutely delighted.
"-: We had a lot of excitement. Tonight we came with the children, especially to hear the Romanian Opera.
-: Great foundation also for the Romanian community here and for the French people who came, it's definitely a positive boost for the group of Olympians who will participate in these Olympic Games."
The tour of the Bucharest National Opera in Paris also includes a sacred music concert tomorrow at the Orthodox Cathedral "Saints Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphail" in Paris and another on July 25 at the Romanian Embassy in the French Republic, on the occasion of the inauguration of the Romanian House at the Olympic Games Paris 2024."
