World Anti-Doping Agency is investigating possible falsified results from the Romanian Doping Control Laboratory (Bucharest Lab) to protect elite doping athletes, as well as Kazakhstan's biathlon team.
According to France Presse, announcement was made by the Head of these investigations, Günter Younger, after a meeting in Montreal of the World Anti-Doping Agency's leadership.
Bucharest Lab has been suspended since November 2017. Since then, 11 employees have been questioned, hundreds of urine and blood samples have been re-analyzed, documentation and communications have been examined, and manipulations have been confirmed, and the culprits have been identified.
Günter Younger said that the official completion of the investigation will also reveal their names and disciplinary proceedings against them.
On the other hand, 9 Kazakh biathlonists have been found guilty and their fate is now being discussed with the International Federation, after their doctor has already been suspended in March.
