Romanian-born Former French swimmer of Romanian origin Roxana Mărăcineanu is the new Minister of Sports in France, replacing former Olympic champion Laura Flessel, who announced her resignation for personal reasons, according to France Presse.
Born on 7 May 1975, Roxana Mărăcineanu was a backstroke world champion in 1998 at the Aquatics Championships in Perth, Australia and an Olympic silver medalist at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
