Romanian Academy pays homage to French General Henri Mathias Berthelot
As a token of gratitude, General Berthelot was decorated with the highest distinctions of the Romanian state and was declared a Citizen Honor of Romania.

Romanian Academy organizes a special event, on Thursday, 19 July, to render homage to French General Henri Mathias Berthelot who fought alongside the Romanians in the First World War.
Event - titled "100 years from the Great Union. Contribution of France and the French Military Mission led by General Henri Mathias Berthelot to the rehabilitation, endowment and training of the Romanian Army in the First World War" - takes place at the General Berthelot Mansion in the village with the same name in the Hunedoara County.
It has been prepared a philatelic panel dedicated to the Centenary of the Great Union, also exhibition "General Berthelot on the Romanian Front (1916-1918)".
Henri Mathias Berthelot, honorary member of the Romanian Academy, was the Head of the French Military Mission in Romania during the First World War and made an essential contribution to the rebuilding and reorganization of the Romanian Army.
He was a strategic advisor to King Ferdinand and was involved in the diplomatic and military support of the Romanian cause. As a token of gratitude, General Berthelot was decorated with the highest distinctions of the Romanian state and was declared a Citizen Honor of Romania.
On June 14, 2018, the Romanian Academy organized, under the same title, a special event to render homage to General Berthelot, at its premises in Calea Victoriei 125, Bucharest, in partnership with the French Embassy in Bucharest and the Romanian Cultural Institute.
