President Traian Basescu assured them, today, representatives of international financial institutions that after the parliamentary elections of December 9, the Bucharest authorities will act for the program with the International Monetary Fund to be successful.
The President talked about the need to continue structural reforms.
"I know you have some gripes. And I am in the same situation as you. I'm not involved in the campaign and may have a clearer vision of the program, compared with others in the country. We all agreed that, immediately after the elections, to continue structural reforms.
"There are also positive aspects. Macro-economic situation is stable, and I intend to discuss with you about the financial markets, "said President Basescu.
The economy is "growing"
In turn, the head of the IMF mission, Erik de Vrijer said that Romania needs to think about how to transform the economy into one of success and how to reach the economic growth.
He noted that the current visit of the Fund has a technical character, and the evaluation will be made next year.
"It's a good opportunity to make an exchange of views on the situation in which we find ourselves and to see how we can move forward. Now, the main challenge is the shift from macroeconomic stabilization to austerity and economic growth and creating jobs.
"It's almost a law of physics – if you don't do anything, nothing will happen-and I think that is a very important to begin to think about how to make this program to be successful," said Erik de Vrijer.
Find out at the end of the Mission in our country, the representatives of the IMF, the European Commission and the World Bank will also meet Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
