Producer: Nicoleta Turcu - Emergency assistance for the Republic of Moldova, to deal with the crisis in the energy sector, is the main theme of the third meeting of the support platform for this country, meeting that took place on Monday in Paris. Recently, Romania has become the main supplier of electricity for the Republic of Moldova, after the energy system in Ukraine, from where it used supply itself, was almost destroyed by the Russian bombings. The presidents of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, as well as the foreign ministers of France, Germany, and Romania, countries that launched this project, participated in the event in Paris. RRA correspondent Oana Bala has details.
Reporter: Romania will be in solidarity with the Republic of Moldova and will continue to support it as long as it is necessary - declared the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, before the start of the conference. The head of Romanian diplomacy also stated that the neighboring country needs grants for energy, but also support to make the necessary reforms for the process of joining the European Union. The meeting in Paris took place in the context in which the Republic of Moldova is facing major energy, economic and humanitarian challenges, against the backdrop of the war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Under these conditions, the work of the ministerial conference will focus on emergency assistance options, considering the severity of the crisis in the energy sector, which strongly destabilizes the state budget of the Republic of Moldova. The previous ministerial conference of the support platform was organized in the summer, in Bucharest, during which the Republic of Moldova obtained support in the total amount of over 600 million euros. Also, at Romania's proposal, it was decided to create within the platform a new working group on public administration reform.
