Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu begins a two-day official visit to London, the first by a Romanian Prime Minister to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 17 years.
He will meet today with representatives of the Romanian community in the Kingdom, one of the largest in the diaspora, and tomorrow he is scheduled to hold official talks with the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, the Speaker of the House of Commons and the Lord Mayor of London. The Prime Minister will also take part in an economic forum, organized to promote British investment in Romania in areas with great development potential, such as energy.
At the Romania-UK Economic Forum, Romania will present itself as the second most energy-independent country in the European Union, with the objective of achieving full energy independence by 2030.
For this reason, Romania offers ideal conditions for green and sustainable investments to combat climate change, and offshore wind farms are the next major development in the country's energy landscape.
Also important for British investors is the state aid that will be provided by the Government in Bucharest, which is a grant of up to 60% of the investment value to promote Greenfield projects.
British investors may also be interested in infrastructure development projects as part of the effort to support and rebuild Ukraine, as well as the potential for Romania to become a regional, logistical and strategic hub for British companies.
