Romania is determined to prevent and combat negative phenomena that undermine confidence in democracy, says President Klaus Iohannis.
In a message sent to the summit of democracy, hosted online by the American leader, Joe Biden, the head of state stated that Romania is committed to developing the best practices for the proper investigation and prosecution of hate crimes.
"Another priority for Romania is to prevent and combat human trafficking, an objective that is impossible to achieve in isolation. As such, Romania is committed to cooperating with all interested internal actors, including with the civil society. I also want to emphasize that implementing measures to strengthen institutional capacity in the fight against corruption is essential for Romania, not only at national level but also abroad, and strategic areas such as health and the environment are major concerns for future generations. The time has come to coordinate better in order to build stronger, human rights - based systems, and democracy provides the best climate for this", said President Klaus Iohannis.
