The anti-COVID-19 vaccine produced by AstraZeneca will be administered in Romania to people aged between 18 and 55.
The authorities announced this age limit following the recommendations submitted by the Ministry of Health and the National Medicines Agency, as well as by the Scientific Group of the National Vaccination Coordination Committee, taking into account the manufacturer's specifications and studies available until approval for use in European Union.
Several European countries have imposed age limits due to incomplete data on the effect on people over 55. The AstraZeneca vaccine is given in two doses, and the booster can be given after 4 to 12 weeks.
For Romania, those responsible for immunization recommend that the interval between the two doses be 8 weeks. Romania intends to start administering this serum in the middle of the month, for this purpose another 180 vaccination offices are being prepared.
