European Commissioner on Agriculture Dacian Cioloş said that Romania's regionalization could be beneficial in the context of the EU funds absorption, adding that after 2014 the EU requirements would be directed towards the qualitative, not the quantitative absorption regarding the use of money.
The European Commissioner also referred to the importance of compliance with the quality standards on food products, including by specifying the ingredients on the product label.
"The standards applied to the European Union are the highest in the world in terms of quality and content of food and there are even obligations regarding the manufacturer of a consumer label, to specify on the label specifying what that product contains."
"Of course that the consumers has to be interested to look on the label to see what they buy, beyond the price", Dacian Cioloş said.
Dacian Ciolos also said at Iaşi that decentralization of the project management can only be beneficial, adding that the European Commission never required "a certain way of administrative organization".
He said that a strategic approach to developing a region could be particularly useful because, during 2014-2020, certain conditionalities would be negotiated by the European Commission with each Member State individually.
Dacian Cioloş discussed with the officials from Iaşi the issues of the farmers around.
The failure to complete the land restitution process, the heavy drawing of digital plot plans and agriculture labour shortages have been reported.
