RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - Romania's heroes are commemorated today throughout the country through military and religious ceremonies.
In Arad, those who fell on the battlefields were honored at the Church of the Martyrs, built in their memory, but also at the old Orthodox Cathedral.
Reporter: Ioan Suciu - “Heroes' Day was also marked in Arad through a series of events meant to pay homage to the sacrifice of the nation's heroes. After the religious service and the laying of wreaths at the Monument of the Heroes in the Revolution Square in Arad, a military and religious ceremony took place at the Cross of the Martyrs. The soldiers of the 191st Infantry Battalion "Colonel Radu Golescu" presented the honor and marched in front of the audience.
-: We honor the heroes who gave their lives for Romania. Let's keep Romania as these great heroes left it for us.
-: These were people who thought they had to do something for the world, and for our people, for us to live better days. They are examples without which we would not have been able to move forward."
In Bucharest, tonight, on the esplanade of the National Military Circle, a military music concert will take place, followed by the traditional torchlight procession.
We remind you that Heroes' Day is marked every year in Romania alongside the Orthodox holiday of the Lord's Ascension.
