Romania’s Great Union Centenary and European course have been celebrated in the European Parliament through an exhibition with portraits of Romanians who have marked the history of the country and the world.
Romanian traditions have been presented through a folklore show performed by the "Crişana" Artistic Ensemble in Oradea.
RRA correspondent in Brussels, Amalia Bojescu: "Yehudi Menuhin Hall in the European Parliament, the largest in The House, was decorated with pictures of famous Romanians in various fields, who contributed to the development of Romania over the past 100 years.
Ten men and ten women were elected, to respect gender equality. Nicolae Titulescu, Eugen Ionescu, George Enescu, Queen Maria, Ana Aslan and Nadia Comăneci are just a few of the personalities chosen by the organizer, PSD MEP Emilian Pavel: "We chose to decorate the Yehudi Menuhin Hall, the largest in the European Parliament, with pictures of 20 great Romanians. Of course it was a difficult task to pick just those 20, but I think we made a good selection. They will show that Romania has greatly contributed to the development of humanity".
Romanian traditions from different historical regions of Romania were presented with folk dances and traditional costumes by professional artistic ensemble "Crisana" in Oradea.
Leontin Ciucur, Director of Crişana Ensemble: "For all those who feel Romanian, this is a special event, we came here with excitement and joy. We have these feelings each time we represent Romania abroad and we are proud with all the Romanian traditional songs and popular costumes".
Event was a tribute to Romania and its values, as well as to Romanians' contribution to the development and progress of humanity".
