Romania's external debt increased in the first eight months of the year by more than 5 billion euros, reaching almost 142 billion. The current account deficit also increased by over 6 billion, reaching almost 17 billion euros, as announced by the National Bank of Romania.
The biggest deficit was recorded in goods, followed by services. The government debt exceeded 628 billion lei, but it remained in August at 48% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the same as in the previous month or the end of last year.
