Bucharest hosts a series of events and conferences this week, under Romania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Fourth meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group (JPSG) on Europol is currently taking place (24-25 February). RRA Reporter Carmen Gavrilă: "The Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol was established by the Speakers Conference on the basis of Article 51 of the Europol Regulation which entered into force on 1 May 2017. The constituent meeting took place in October 2017 in Brussels. This parliamentary scrutiny body, composed of members of national parliaments and of the European Parliament is tasked with political monitoring and examination of Europol’s activities. Meetings take place twice a year under the co-chair of the European Parliament. This newly created body will politically monitor the agency's activities in fulfilling its mission, including as regards the impact of those activities on the fundamental rights and freedoms of natural persons”.
High Level Group on Education and Training (27 February)will gather experts in education and training. Topics on the agenda will include discussions on the contribution of education and training to the future of the European Union, the future strategic framework in education and training with a special focus on quality, inclusion, mobility and excellence in education.
Third Eastern Partnership Ministerial meeting on Digital Economyand Informal Meeting of the TTE Council (Telecommunications) is scheduled for 28 February.
Next steps towards making the EU a best practice region in combating AMR - Ministerial debates at the conference set for 28 February will focus on identifying actions needed to improve prevention and control of infections at national and European level.
EU-US Senior Officials Meeting on Justice and Home Affairs (28 February) will take place at the Palace of Parliament.
