Romania succeeded in finalizing several important dossiers on EU Agenda in two months since taking over the EU Council Presidency.
RRA Reporter Andrei Şerban: Romania has managed to reach important results on EU matters related to economic growth, jobs, environmental protection, non-polluting vehicles, Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă said.
Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă: For a less polluted environment, we have placed the dossier on promoting clean vehicles on the European agenda. Romanian EU Presidency and the European Parliament have reached a political agreement for introduction of longer, aerodynamic lorry cabs on the EU transport market. These are safer and more energy-efficient , and may enter the market from as early as 1 September 2020. These lorry cabs will save fuel, improve visibility, safety and comfort for drivers and increase safety for other road users.
RRA Reporter: Viorica Dăncilă also reminded that Romania has completed the dossier on the new rules, which will ensure that the products introduced in the single market are safe and comply with legislation on health, consumer protection, environmental protection and public safety. Before aerodynamic cabs can be placed on the market, they must meet the necessary type-approval requirements. These type-approval requirements are to be in place by 1 November 2019.
