Italy, the country with the largest community of Romanians abroad, also has the largest number of Romanian air travellers, and the abolition of border controls with the entry into Schengen is a great advantage for them.
Passengers arriving at Rome's Fiumicino airport these days from Bucharest, Bacau, Iasi, Suceava, Craiova, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara are happy that they no longer have to wait in 20-minute queues for ID checks.
-: I travelled very well. Everything went faster than usual. We went to the airport a bit earlier, because it was not clear whether families with children needed to go through a border police check, but they didn't.
-: The big surprise was also in Rome when we landed and in just four minutes we were out of the airport.
-: For me too it was clearly a big thrill to arrive at Rome Fiumicino and enter the Schengen terminal. And I have to say that, here too, it's currently saving quite a lot of time. Compared to Bucharest, there have always been fewer officers at the border controls in Rome and there were always queues, especially in summer when passengers from other flights arrive.
