Romania needs to renew its fleet of civilian and military helicopters

Airbus calls on Romania to organize a transparent tender for helicopter acquisition.

''We are waiting for an official announcement of a transparent tender - as required by European law - to give us the opportunity to participate with the H 215 '', a multi-purpose helicopter, 'Airbus Romania Director Serge Durand told France Presse.

In this context, he also mentioned that the American company Bell Helicopters is courting Romania, which has to renew its fleet of civilian and military helicopters.

According to sources close to Airbus, quoted by news agencies, this issue was on the agenda of the talks that French President Emmanuel Macron had on Thursday in Bucharest.

Since 2016, Airbus has a factory in Braşov and the first helicopters are to be produced here starting from 2018.

The company's officials hoped that Romania would be the first customer of the Braşov plant, but almost a year after its inauguration, there is no concrete offer - said Airbus Romania Director for France Presse.
