Caution, vigilance, but not panic. This is the message of Prime Minister Emil Boc about a possible new economic crisis.
He said in Arad on Tuesday that Romania was in a better situation than it had been in 2008 and that it was not ’immune’ to the events in the euro area or on global markets.
"My message is this: caution, vigilance, but not panic and even if our situation is better than it was in 2008 regarding the crisis, we are not immune to what happens on global markets and especially in the euro area, particularly to what might happen in Italy or Spain."
"There is a continuous consultation between the government, the president and the National Bank on the correlation of the policies we must promote, in order to take the necessary measures and in time," Emil Boc said.
President Traian Băsescu had a meeting at Cotroceni Palace at 5 pm, a meeting for the analysis of the international economic progress.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Emil Boc, BNR Governor Mugur Isărescu, Minister of Finance Gheorghe Ialomiţianu and Chairman of the Tax Council Ionuţ Dumitru.
