Romania has won nine Olympic medals in London
Romania has won nine medals at the Summer Olympics in London compared to eight in Beijing in 2008, but much less than in Sydney, in 2000, when it won 26 medals.

Romania has won a total of nine medals at the Olympic Games in London.
Of the total of nine medals, two were of gold, five of silver and two bronze.
At Beijing 2008, Romania received eight medals including four gold, one silver and three bronze.
In 2004 edition, played in Athens, the country won 19 medals (eight gold, five silver and six bronze).
The record of medals for Romania was obtained at Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, where our athletes won no less than 53 medals including 20 gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze.
Instead, at the Winter Olympics, Romania has no notable results.
From 1928 and until now, Romania only got a bronze medal in 1968 in Grenoble at Bob 2 (Bob + sled), according to Romanian Olympic Committee.

The first Olympic gold medal in 2012
Alin George Moldoveanu won the gold medal in air rifle test - 10 meters.
Romanian athlete, who equaled the Olympic record in qualifying, with 599 points, accumulated a final score of 702.1 points, managing to win the first gold medal for Romania at this edition of the Olympics.
Romania overcame the World Champion, the Italian Niccolo Campriani 701.5 points and on the third place was situated the Indian Gagan Narang, with 701.1 points.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he won the 4th place in the sample 10 m air rifle.
Other performances of his career, apart from the medal taken Monday in London, are the silver medal at the World Championships in Zagreb, in 2006, and a bronze medal at the 2004 European elections in Györ.
He also won the first World Cup held in Munich 2008, and finished the second in World Cup in Rio de Janeiro (2008), Bangkok (2007), Munich (2005) and Milan (2005).
Alin Moldoveanu ranked 5 in European elections of 2000 in Munich and 2005 in Tallinn.
Gold in gymnastics for Sandra Izbasa
In the 9th day of the Olympic Games in London, gymnast Sandra Izbasa won the gold medal on vault with an average of 15,191.
It is the second gold medal of Romanian Olympic delegation.
The gymnast entered the competition on the eighth position and has surpassed on the podium the American McKayla Maroney, ranked the second with an average of 15,083 and the Russian Maria Pasek, ranked third with an average of 15,050.

Alina Dumitru, Judo silver at 48 kg category
On the first day of the Summer Olympics, judoka Alina Dumitru won the first medal for Romanian delegation.
She won silver in 48 kg category, in the final disputed with Brazilian Sarah Menezes.
In the semifinals she surpassed the Japanese Tomoko Fukumi.
The 2008 Olympic champion, Alina Dumitru, defeated Urantsetseg Munkhbat (Mongolia) in the quarterfinals.
In the first fight since the Olympics, in the second round, Alina Dumitru surpassed the Cuban Dayaris Mestre Alvarez (Cuba), through the disqualification of the opponent, who was charged with a yellow card for unsportsmanlike act.
Alina Dumitru said that after participation in the Olympic Games she will end his career and will retreat.

Silver at female 57kg judo
Corina Caprioriu won the silver medal in women's judo 57kg.
Our judo lost the final in front of Japanese Kaori Matsumoto to 57kg judo category.

The Romanian was penalized in overtime, when the score was 0-0. Our judoka was decisively penalized, being charged for stepping off the carpet, so the final was resolved by arbitrators.
Corina Caprioriu is a silver medalist, Romania's second at judo and third at the 2012 London Olympics.
Silver for weightlifter Roxana Cocos
Weightlifter Roxana Cocos won the silver medal in 69 kg category at the Olympic Games in London with a total of 256 kg.
The Romanian, with a total of 256 pounds, managed to snatch 113 kg and 143 kg at throwing, style at which failed at the last attempt at 146 kg, being overtaken in the final ranking by North Korean sports Rim Jong Sim, with 261 kg, gold medalist.

Silver for gymnast Catalina Ponor
Gymnast Catalina Ponor won the silver medal in the final ground with 15,200.
Catalina Ponor entered the fourth in the competition, managing a very good exercise, after the disappointment from the beam, where she lost podium after an appeal of the by U.S. personnel.
Catalina Ponor was noted with 15,200, the audience booed when displaying it, too unhappy because of the note.
Catalina Ponor lost the bronze medal in the beam apparatus finals after the appeal of U.S. athlete, Alexandra Raisman was accepted and the last one passes on the third position.
Catalina Ponor had 15,066, mark obtained also by Alexandra Raisman, who obtained the bronze medal because he had a higher mark on execution.

Silver male epee
The men's epee team of Romania, consisting of Rares Dumitrescu, Florin Zalomir, Tiberiu Sireteanu and Alexandru Dolniceanu lost the final with South Korea representative, with the score 26-45, and remained with the silver medal, the seventh for Romania at the Olympic Games in London.
Romania won the quarters in front of China, 45-30, and in front of Russia in the semifinals, 45-43.
In third place was the Italian team, consisting of Aldo Montano, Luigi Tarantino and Diego Occhiuzzi, who won Friday, with the score of 45-40 the meeting with Russian band, in the small final.
Bronze for Romanian team gymnastics
Women's gymnastics team of Romania, constituted of Catalina Ponor, Sandra Izbasa, Larisa Iordache, Diana Bulimar, Diana Chelaru won the bronze medals at the Olympic Games in London, with a total score of 176.414 in final team.
Gold went to USA Team (Jordyn Wieber, Gabrielle Douglas, Kyla Ross, Alexandra Raisman, McKayla Maroney), with 183.596 points.

Razvan Martin won the bronze medal in weightlifting
Athlete Razvan Martin won Tuesday the bronze medal in 69 kg category final, the fifth for the Romanian delegation at the Olympic Games in London.
Razvan Martin, aged 20 years, managed to lift 152 kg in snatch, from the three attempts, having the second performance, after the leader Qingfeng Lin (China).

At clean and jerk , Martin raised 177 and 180 pounds, trying 182 pounds at last time, even if he could not surpass the Chinese, who already had seven kilograms in addition to the total.
Romania comes again on the Olympic podium after 16 years at the men's weightlifting.
