Romania is the Guest Country at the Madrid Book Fair, at its 77th edition this year, which opened on 25 May.
Visitors will be able to see over one hundred titles of Romanian books, translated into Spanish. They will also have the opportunity to meet some Romanian authors like Mircea Cărtărescu or Ana Blandiana, or they will see Florin Andreescu's photos on the main road of the Retiro Park.
Spain is the country where most Romanian literature is translated, and the celebration of the Centenary is an opportunity for the recent history of Romania to be known.
Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid, Ioana Anghel, says that visibility is one of the many advantages Romania has, starting with the opening day of the Book Fair.
Ioana Anghel: The big gain is also what media coverage means. Chronicles, all the articles about the writers that will come, titles to be released, the fact that everything that appears in the Spanish media is also read in Latin America, this Fair can have a very strong influence in the following years, by increasing the number of translations of the Romanian literature.
RRA Reporter: More than one hundred events organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid and the Embassy of Romania in Spain are being held these days at the Madrid Book Fair (Feria del Libro).
Madrid Book Fair will last until 10 June 2018.
