Romania could be given the portfolio for social rights and housing in the next European Commission, a post with many extra powers on issues related to salaries, pensions and benefits.
Government sources, quoted by Radio Romania News reporter Petruta Obrejan, claim that Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu had a discussion on the matter with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in which Roxana Manzatu, our Romania's nominee for the post of European Commissioner, also took part.
The head of the EU executive is expected to announce tomorrow the distribution of portfolios in the future European Commission, her political objective being to create a gender-balanced team.
