Romania will continue campaign to promote its candidacy for a non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council, an "important foreign policy objective", Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) informs.
"Solid support from the political class and the Romanian society as a whole, including the media, strengthens the chances of success", MAE underlines.
Statement has been made as a result of press reports that Romania would have lost its non-permanent membership to the UN Security Council.
In this context, Romanian Foreign Ministry recalls that Bucharest submitted its candidacy for a non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council in the year 2020 – 2021, for the place allocated to the East European Group where Romania belongs. Elections for this mandate will be held at the UN General Assembly in June 2019.
