Romania celebrates International Francophonie Day
Head of the Bucharest Government points out that Francophonie was among the first international structures Romania joined after 1989.

Romanian Government has welcomed the celebration of the International Francophonie Day and Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă said that Romania, which joined the Francophone Movement 25 years ago, has gained recognition as a Francophone pole in Central and Eastern Europe.
Head of the Bucharest Government pointed out that Francophonie was among the first international structures Romania joined after 1989, although Romania has been part of the family of Francophone nations ever since the Great Union and before that.
In 1991, Romania obtained observer status, and since 1993 it became has been a full member of the International Organization of Francophonie - a status that allowed Romania to consolidate the global dimension of international cooperation, a Government press release states.
