The leaders of 18 countries, including President Klaus Iohannis, signed a joint statement Thursday calling for the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip, the Presidential Administration said.
The fate of the hostages and the civilian population there is an international concern, the statement said, stressing that the proposed agreement to release the hostages would bring an immediate and sustained ceasefire in Gaza.
This would facilitate an increase in much-needed additional humanitarian assistance and may lead to a credible end to hostilities.
Most of the signatories are European, the others being Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, the United States and Thailand.
