Romania, 8th place in the EU for beer production

Host: Romania was, in 2019, on the 8th place in beer production in the 27 member states of the European Union, according to data published today by the European Bureau of Statistics. According to Eurostat, last year 34 billion liters of alcoholic beer were produced in the European Union, or about 77 liters for each person.
Reporter: The main beer producers in the European Union in 2019 were Germany, with 8 billion liters or 23% of total production, Poland and Spain, each with 3.9 billion, then the Netherlands, Belgium, France, the Czech Republic and Romania. Our country has produced 1.73 billion liters of beer. The countries where beer production has increased compared to the previous year are Lithuania, Spain and Italy, and those where it has decreased are the Netherlands, Latvia and Slovakia.
In terms of beer export, more than 900 million liters went to the United States, more than 800 million to the United Kingdom and less than 400 million to China, Russia or Canada. Eurostat data were published today, on the occasion of International Beer Day, celebrated every year on the first Friday of August.
