Respiratory viruses and flu cases are increasing

Producer: Ciprian Sasu - Respiratory viruses and flu cases are multiplying, and doctors advise us to protect ourselves from the cold and avoid self-medication. At the Vaslui Emergency County Hospital, the first patients with seasonal flu this winter were admitted, while almost 1.000 other people were diagnosed with respiratory viruses and pneumonia. Alina Darie reports.

Reporter: The doctors of the Vaslui County Emergency Hospital registered the first cases of flu in the county, all with the type A virus. The four diagnosed patients are adults and required hospitalization. Doctors have also noticed an increase in the number of respiratory infections, almost 1.000 in the last week, among which more than 10% are pneumonia.

Regarding viruses, most patients who needed hospitalization are children between the ages of two and four.

In this context, representatives of the Vaslui Public Health Directorate appeal to the population to avoid crowds and protect themselves from low temperatures. Eating vegetables and fruit is important, as is hand hygiene. Doctors also recommend avoiding self-medication.
