Resita hosts APEXMATHS-2024 international math camp

Resita is hosting until August 23 the APEXMATHS-2024 international math camp, unique in Europe.

60 top students, teachers, PhD students from home and abroad, from 4 continents, including a young man from Resita, admitted after countless tests.

What the program will look like for the 3 weeks when Resita will be the mathematics capital of the world, explains Deputy Mayor Madalina Chiosa.

"They will arrive first in Timisoara. There are 48 young participants and 10 PhD students together with the professors who will be in charge of organizing the activities. They will come to Resita, here they will be accommodated at the UBB where there are places to stay for students because we have a partnership with UBB Resita for the organization of the camp, then they will have activities at the University every week, every day, they will have a mathematics course and in the afternoon they will be organized in groups in the form of seminars. We have also prepared activities for them every weekend, every weekend of the three weeks of the camp they will have a different activity. We will go with them one weekend to Coronini, where we will visit the Danube Gorge and then we will make a route to Herculane, followed by the Rudaria mills, the Bigar waterfall and back to Resita. They will have activities in the adventure park, like archery and so on. The people in charge have prepared a very interesting program for them and then we will go to Ochiul Beiului. For example, I have seen the list of participants, there are young people from many different countries, from Romania, Ukraine, the United States, France, Moldova, they are very different young people and we expect them to have a great time in Resita. We have done our best to respond to their requests and prepare interesting days for them. I have to tell you that here in the camp we will have a 21-year-old from Resita. He has free participation, but for him it was not a simple registration, he had to solve several exercises and the young man fulfilled all the conditions to participate, so there will be a young man from Resita who will stay with the others at UBB to integrate into this program", said Madalina Chiosa.
