Research and innovation ensure a sustainable and help labour market - this is the opinion of representatives of the European Union and the reason why Monday and Tuesday in Barcelona, Spain, has held a conference on the important position they occupy this area in the world’s future.
Research and innovation contribute directly to the prosperity and welfare of citizens and society in general.
All policies on research and technological development are designed to establish the European Union as a knowledge-based economy.
This is done by creating a common space of research to allow optimization of cooperation between countries for better coordination between European and national policies as well as better networking of research teams. All this research and innovation policy should also stimulate the mobility of people and ideas.
Do not forget that research and innovation strategies are priorities for European growth and employment, thereby Member States are encouraged to invest 3 percent of raw national product(PIB) in these areas by 2020.
Experts estimate that these investments would generate 3.7 million jobs and would determine an annual increase in Gross Domestic Product (PIB) of around 800 billion euros.
In addition, research and innovation could find solutions to the biggest problems of our time and energy, food supply security, climate change and population aging.
Considering all these aspects is not surprising that the European Commission representatives have established that neighboring countries development community block would help the 27 European Union countries, in other words, developing a common space of knowledge is one of the goals of the Union.
In this context a summit, held in Spain these days aims to define the objectives and main elements pursued long term in the area, to promote a process of coordination between the European Commission, Union Member States and Mediterranean policies , to increase the impact and consistency of initiatives in the region.
