The NATO certification ceremony of the British Royal Air Force Detachment, which will execute the service of Reinforced Air Police, together with the Romanian military, in the next four months, took place on Thursday at the 57th Air Base "Mihail Kogalniceanu" in Constanta County.
The RAF mission represents the third rotation at "Mihail Kogalniceanu" of the British Royal Air Force, after those executed in 2017 and 2018 - states our correspondent Sorin Cealera: Four Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft will participate, along with F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft and MiG-21 Lancer of the Romanian Air Force, in air police missions for four months. The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Romania, Andrew Noble, and the Secretary of State for Defense Policy, Planning and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defense, Simona Cojocaru, were present at the NATO certification ceremony of the British detachment, consisting of 200 soldiers.
Vice Admiral Jan de Guyt, Commander of the British Air Force Group 11: We will fly together, train together and carry out air policing missions together, which we want to be successful. Together we will be stronger. The missions will contribute to strengthening the interoperability between the Romanian and British Air Forces.
Lieutenant General Vasile Toader, Deputy Chief of the Defense Staff: We are glad to be here. I am sure that there will be enough opportunities to exchange experience, to train together, etc.
The missions carried out jointly have as main purpose the development of the reaction and deterrence capacity on the eastern flank of the Alliance, informs RADIO ROMANIA NEWS.
