President Traian Basescu askes the Parliament to reconsider the Act on approving the Memorandum signed between the Romanian state and Rompetrol Group, signed in Bucharest on February the 15th 2013, informs the Presidential Administration.
In its request, the President considers that the settlement of disputes between the Romanian state and Rompetrol group could be achieved through a resolution adopted by the government.
The request for review is also considered that following the adoption by Parliament of the bill noted, the legislature would have violated the Constitution because it would have arrogated the power to legislate in breach of the principle of separation and balance of powers.
The Government approved in early May the Memorandum of Understanding between the Romanian state and Rompetrol, which stipulates the sale of 26 percent shares for 200 million dollars and 1 billion dollars investment.
The Chamber of Deputies passed the bill on May the 21st on the memorandum.
PDL and PP-DD parliamentary groups voted then against the bill alleging the fact that the Memorandum will damage the Romanian state.
Liberal Democrats attacked then the law at the Constitutional Court but the unconstitutionality objection was rejected.
