The reception ceremony of the first Patriot surface-to-air missile system in Romania took place today at the Air Defense Training Center at Capul Midia. This anti-aircraft system is among the seven that will be part of Romania's Army.
The systems, purchased for about $ 4 billion, represent the latest version of Patriot missiles in service and tested in combat, capable of engaging all types of current air threats.
Nicolae Ciuca, Minister of Defense: Basically, the Romanian Army receives essential equipment in the most modern form currently being manufactured; a defensive system tested in battle, improved over time, meaning our country will be better protected against external threats.
The ceremony at Cape Midia was attended by Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, alongside US Ambassador Adrian Zuckerman and Senate President Robert Cazanciuc.
For the Romanian military, a training stage on the specific configuration of the equipment will follow, with assistance from the United States partners.
