From Wednesday, April 16, another Dacian gold bracelet, recovered by Romanian judicial authorities at the end of last year, can be seen at the National Museum of History.
The piece is part of a treasure discovered in the Sarmisegetuza Regia archaeological site area and smuggled until it was brought back into the country.
"It is the 14th bracelet that is known from the series of Dacian bracelets looted by poaching in the Orastiei Mountains, more precisely at Sarmisegetuza Regia. 13 have been recovered, 10 of them are in the patrimony of the National Museum of Romanian History, three were stolen from the train and we hope to recover the second. The story of these gold bracelets has animated a lot of thoughts of poachers who have ransacked Dacian fortresses and we hope that the legislation will be improved, that these things will not continue, because this poaching is very harmful, us missing the most important part, which is their contextual story, which can only be reconstructed through archaeological research, not from the investigations of police and prosecutors", said Ovidiu Tentea, interim manager of the National Museum of History.
The Dacian bracelet on display today has the same technical and stylistic characteristics as the other spiral bracelets known to date and is presented in the Lapidarium area of the permanent exhibition of the National Museum of History in the capital.
From tomorrow, it will be part of the Historical Treasure exhibition.
