Radio Romania Production awarded at ABU SONIC Radio Drama Festival

Radio Romania Production “The Death of Ticu, an Outlaw of the Skirts” won the Special Mention in the Mini-Drama category of the inaugural edition of the ABU SONIC International Radio Drama Festival that took place during 27-29 November 2017 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and was hosted by ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union) member Radio Republic Indonesia (RRI).

"The Death of Ticu, an Outlaw of the Skirts" adapts in comic style the story written by Viorel Ilişoi about the theme of death and life in the simplicity of the rural space. The story is published on the author's blog www.viorelilisoi.ro.

This Radio Romania Production is directed by Mihnea Chelaru, who made a true acoustic portrait of the traditions and superstitions Romanians have when it comes to funerals.

Director Mihnea Chelaru is also the sound engineer of this production and has also worked on dramatizing the story, together with Loredana Goagă, the English editor and translator of the play, for the ABU SONIC Festival. Team also includes Janina Dicu - studio director, George Marcu – author of the original music, Nelu Radu – cimbalom player, and the actors in this radio show distribution: Andrei Ciopec (in the lead role), Coca Bloss, Magda Catone, Adriana Trandafir, Daniela Ioniţă Marcu, Dan Condurache, Ion Haiduc, Ion Arcudeanu, Rudi Rosenfeld, Marius Rizea, Ioana Chelaru, Juliana Draghici, Constantin Florescu.
