The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Municipality of Bucharest has awarded, during the 31st edition of the Top Firms in Bucharest, the best performing companies in the capital, taking into account indicators such as net turnover, operating profit, operating profit rate, efficiency of use of human resources and efficiency of use of capital employed, calculated on the basis of 16 elements extracted from the financial statements submitted by companies to the Ministry of Public Finance and the National Trade Register Office.
According to the methodology used to compile the top, of the almost 170 thousand companies with registered office in Bucharest that submitted their balance sheet for 2023, over 65.600 met the eligibility criteria, and 7.417 of these companies were awarded. This year a number of excellence trophies were also awarded, emphasized the president of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iuliu Stocklosa:
There are 830 firms being awarded for excellence. Excellence means top three places, so podium, in the last 5 years. This means extraordinary stability for these companies. So Bucharest, which represents 25% of Romania's GDP, has stable companies. What else can I tell you? This year, 3.5% more companies filed documents with the Trade Register than last year.
Iuliu Stocklosa also pointed out that the unemployment rate in Bucharest is only 0.8%, that 22% of Romania's active companies are based here, and that over 21% of total exports and 32% of total imports are also made in the capital.
In addition, 60% of scientific research and 56% of foreign investment also takes place in Bucharest.
The more than 7.400 companies honored yesterday have a combined turnover of €133 billion and employ half of the workforce in Bucharest, said Iuliu Stocklosa.
In terms of structure by sector of activity, most CCIB award-winning companies operate in the service sector, almost 35%, followed by trade, about 27%, and industrial companies, a little over 20% of the total number of companies receiving awards.
In addition to the awards for economic results, the event also saw a number of special trophies and diplomas, including Radio Romania News, which received a special trophy for "balance in a complex world".
