Prix Marulić Festival is organized by HRT - Radio Croatia in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and already has an 11-year tradition.
“Explosive” constitutes a contemporary reinterpretation of the Bacchantes myth, with an emphasis on the mother-son relationship.
Elise Wilk places the show's characters in a nowadays high school, and mother-son or teacher-pupils relationships describe the difficulty of adaptation and self-knowledge specific to age.
By the names of the characters and the relation among them, “Explosive” is referring to the ancient theater, but the reinterpretation of the Bacchantes myth exceeds the cliché of the age-specific excess, and discusses the effects of authority, the pressure of school performance, and family non-communication on the teens’ fragile balance – at their age of transformation into adults.
“Explosive”, by Elise Wilk, continues the series of prestigious international successes, holding also the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union 2017 (ABU 2017) Award, at the Drama category.
