Radio Romania „Explosive” Theater Production wins ABU 2017 Award

„Explosive”, a Radio Romania Theater Production written by Elise Wilk and directed by Mihnea Chelaru, won the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) 2017 Award, at the Drama category.
Out of the over 260 productions registered in the Radio and TV categories, 28 productions have reached the finals in the Radio section, in seven distinct categories.
The four finalist productions in the ABU 2017 Drama category were: Radio Romania (ROR) with „Explosive”, Japan Broadcasting Company (NHK) with „The Piano That Awaits You”, The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) with „Through the Field” and Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcaster (IRIB) with „The Last Photo”.
Winner announcement took place at the Chengdu (China) Awarding Ceremony, on November 3, at the 54th ABU General Assembly (ABU GA, Oct. 30 - Nov. 4, 2017).
The trophy and diploma were handed over to Radio Romania President Director-General, Georgică Severin, by ABU President, Ko Dae Young.
The ABU network consists of 272 members, media broadcasters from 69 countries across the Asia-Pacific region, from Turkey to Samoa and from Russia to New Zealand.
A professional association founded in 1964, ABU celebrated 50 years of existence in 2014, half a century in which it supported the development of media activity, represented common interests and stimulated the cooperation of radio and television broadcasters, and promoted their productions.
