Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has announced that PSD is withdrawing from the talks to form a new government, but is not running away from responsibility and will vote in Parliament a right-wing executive.
In a Facebook post, the social-democrat leader said that PSD understood the Romanians' vote, but nothing sustainable can be built with partners who are incapable of overcoming their own egos and ideological cliches and who behave the same as in the election campaign.
Marcel Ciolacu argues that PSD has put up with enough of this kind of attitude without commenting on it, and this way of working is totally counterproductive.
A new round of negotiations between PSD, PNL, UDMR and minorities should have taken place on Thursday, December 19, to form a new government.
On Wednesday, USR representatives withdrew from the meeting after making their entry into government conditional on the approval of a set of austerity measures.
