The Social Democratic Party (PSD), the National Liberal Party (PNL) and The Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) had a new round of negotiations on chapters from a future government program. In education, health, defense, environment and energy, experts from the three parties negotiated and agreed on common points, but there are also chapters with different points of view.
For example, in finance, PSD proposes taxing large fortunes; Instead, PNL explains why it cannot agree to an overtaxation.
"I still don't understand the motivation to introduce a new tax. If those assets, which some call luxury, have been legally purchased, taxes have been paid and are being paid on them, there is no reason to come up with a overcharge. From our ideological point of view, we really want to encourage people to accumulate assets, to accumulate properties, because that's why they work", says the PNL president, Florin Citu.
Another sensitive point in the negotiations is the abolition of the Section for the Investigation of Crimes in Justice. PNL insists on its abolition, while PSD rejects the option. Moreover, the PSD leader, Marcel Ciolacu, said that the activity of this structure must be improved.
"In that area we must intervene and see what needs to be done, so as to close the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism, but not by abolishing the Section for the Investigation of Crimes in Justice," Marcel Ciolacu explained.
The negotiating teams will also have to agree on the people who will be part of a new coalition government, but also on the prime minister.
