Yesterday, PSD members and sympathizers demonstrated in front of PD-L headquarters all over the country, after having been asked by the leader of the party to take a stand against the arrest of the head of the Argeş County Council.

PSD claims that the arrest of Constantin Nicolescu, who was charged with corruption by the National Anticorruption Directorate, has been made on political grounds.

PSD President Victor Ponta took part in the picket organised in Piteşti, where the prosecutors continued to interrogate several mayors involved in this case.

Hundreds of people gathered at the PSD headquarters in Piteşti and listened to the speech of the PSD representatives.

These speeches are meant to encourage the Argeş County Council President, Constantin Nicolescu, who is recovering at the Floreasca Hospital, where he has been operated on.
The demonstrators chanted ‘Liberty!’ and ‘We want fair justice!’.

Several mayors from Câmpulung Muscel and Budeasa were interrogated at the National Anticorruption Directorate headquarters in Piteşti, in the Nicolaescu case.

Protests held in several cities

According to România Actualităţi correspondents, protests were held in Cluj-Napoca and Arad.

Members of the PSD demonstrated in front of the PD-L headquarters in Suceava against the illegal actions PD-L is carrying to intimidate political opponents, but also as a gesture of solidarity with the President of the Argeş County Council, Constantin Nicolescu, corespondent România Actualităţi Mihaela Buculei reported.

Around 50 PSD members and sympathizers demonstrated in front of the PD-L headquarters in Sibiu against what they called the PD-L’s abuses of the justice system.

The participants held placards and chanted slogans against President Traian Băsescu and the Government.

They also asked the prosecutors, the judges and the police officers to defend the honour of justice. The demonstration lasted twenty minutes and was approved by the Sibiu authorities, correspondent România Actualităţi Carmen Vulcan reported.

Over 200 people, PSD members and sympathizers together with the leaders of the party in Timişoara gathered yesterday afternoon to protest against ‘the orange abuses’.

The demonstrators booed and held placards which read ‘We defend the rule of law!’, ‘Stop orange abuses!’ and ‘Stop PD-L’s meddle in justice!’.

President of the PSD Timiş Titu Bojin and First Vice-President Sorin Grindeanu took part in the demonstration, correspondent România Actualităţi Manuela Stănescu reported.
