PSD President, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, says he wants to continue governing with the PNL.
He considers the idea of forming right-wing or left-wing coalitions outdated, as people, he says, need public policies and a perspective.
Marcel Ciolacu expects the PSD to come first in the parliamentary elections, but not to win a majority.
In this sense, he stressed again, he wants the post of prime minister to go to another party if it wins the presidential elections.
Power must be shared. We saw when one man appointed everything, and services, wanted his government, we saw what came out. Romania needs four years of construction. We understand this, fine, we don't, fine again. I will not hide from you that I would like to continue with the current partners in government.
Liberal leader Nicolae Ciuca has ruled out a post-election collaboration with PSD, accusing the Social Democrats of not supporting, as promised, the PNL's legislative project that would have allowed President Klaus Iohannis to run for the parliamentary elections without resigning from the office of head of state.
Yesterday, however, Nicolae Ciuca made more nuanced statements, saying that in the current situation it is more than likely that the current coalition will not survive the elections.
