PSD Extraordinary Congress: PM Dăncilă new PSD Executive President
There were over 4,000 delegates present at the Congress.

Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă is the new Executive President of the ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD), after a vote on Saturday during the party’s Extraordinary Congress in Bucharest.
There were over 4,000 delegates present at the Congress. Participants also elected Marian Neacșu as PSD Secretary General and 16 Vice-Presidents, eight men and eight women for each region of the country.
Mandate of those elected is four years.
“Congress of the Social Democrat Party must send a strong message to all European countries and not only to those states: that PSD and the Romanian Government want to build a strong Romania, based on sustainable development”, said Defense Minister Mihai Fifor, also President of PSD's National Council.
Protests during the PSD Extraordinary Congress
Protesters gathered outside the building where the PSD Extraordinary Congress took place, shouting “Step down from office!” Supporters watched the Congress which was broadcast on a screen, while protesters yelled "You thieves!" “Corruption”, “Lies”. Police detained three people for disturbing public order.
