Prosecutors are investigating electoral rolls
Prosecutors have launched an investigation after the Constitutional Court noted that it has received conflicting data on the number of persons placed on the electoral rolls.

General Prosecutors’ Office investigate in connection with the contents of research electoral lists and additional lists used in the referendum since last Sunday for the impeachment of the suspended President, Traian Băsescu.
Checks take place once the Constitutional Court has stated there is conflicting data received from public authorities concerning the number of persons on the permanent electoral lists.
Prosecutors have asked for their copies and also for additional lists in original, informs the editor of Radio Romania, Constanţa Comănici.
“Having regard to the communication of the Constitutional Court dated 02.08.2012, regarding the conflicting data received from public authorities concerning the number of persons on the electoral lists, on the role of the criminal investigation section from Prosecutor’s Office near the High Court of Cassation and Justice has been a criminal investigation in which there are carried out in connection with the contents of the permanent electoral lists and additional lists used in the referendum of July 29 2012 ", shown in a press release of the Public Ministry.
Public Ministry indicates that all documents have been received and are located at the headquarters of the Parquet High Court of Cassation and justice, in accordance with the provisions pertaining to the Central Electoral Bureau regarding the technical operations to be carried out for pooling of the results of the referendum.
Prosecutor’s offices have received, through Sunday, July 29, at 18.00, a total of 66 complaints concerning the infringements of the referendum.
On Thursday, judges of the Court had asked the Government that till the end of the August to submit updated electoral lists in which the consultation was held.
A decision on the validity of the referendum will be taken in September.
The Executive will meet on Friday to take the necessary measures for the pursuant of the requests made by the Constitutional Court, from 12.00 and take place, to the Government, discussions with all institutions responsible for the updating of the electoral lists.
